[ 2007-05-23 ]

    Contents

  1. Create Amazing Images with 3D Renders
    Mark Mayers
By combining 3D renders with Photoshop illustration techniques you can take your art to another level, creating surreal images like this one. You don’t need to be a 3D wizard by any means as you’ll be using some of Photoshop’s basic image editing functions to make the unbelievable possible. Many 3D renders you see today are very polished and technically perfect, this tutorial will show you how to give them a more painterly quality that 3D alone cannot achieve. You’ll add scans of found objects and some digital photography. The 3D renders supplied on the CD were created by using a combination of Poser and Cinema4D.
  2. Create a personalized photo calendar
    Corel
To do the Calendar you’ll need Corel Snapfire or Corel Snapfire Plus and Digital photos you’d like to put in your calendar. With Snapfire Plus you will also be able to add Picture Tubes to you calendar so you can mark special days Picture Tubes™ are only available in Snapfire Plus.
  3. From sketch to computer graphics
    Aleksandra Wasiukiewicz
Realistic shading and painting characters is often a real nuisance for beginner graphics. Each graphic is looking for his own unique style and totally satisfying finall effect. Here is a simple method of coloring for those of you, who still feel more comfortable using pencil rather than graphics tablet, and who would like to give their works an interesting appearance.
  4. Manual textures
    Alejandro Guzman
This article takes as aim the development of different textures types of agreement to the material of which this one composed each of them; the construction of the same ones is realized stepwise from the sketch base until the finished artwork, using as excuse for it the topic of human figure. The above mentioned implies that the performer must depart from an already made sketch or to construct, since in case of the exercise, one inside the same program. For the work I use the version CS2 of Photoshop and a graphical common Table
  5. Pearl Diver
    Gary Kaplugin
Before you start working on any project you need to come up with a concept of what you want to create. This is extremely important. It is far easier to work if you plan rather than just creating an image as you go along. You need to see the completed image in your mind and often it is a good idea to basically sketch what you want to achieve on paper beforehand. For the “Pearl Diver” image, I wanted to create an image where a girl has dropped a pearl necklace over the side of a boat and has dived in after to catch it. I wanted to catch the moment of her just after she has dived into the water with the bubbles rushing upwards from behind her and her reaching out towards the necklace just before she finally grabs it. For the photo session with the model, I had her laying on the studio floor on a white background in a position that would be similar to how she would look swimming underwater. Using a white background made it easier to separate the model from it. I separated the model from the background using a combination of the pen tool for her body and channel selections to separate the finer details of her hair. I have included the separated version of the model for this tutorial to save you the time of doing it yourself.
  6. Resources for a new freaky communication
    theUncoolhunter Team
When looking for images to produce ideas, the Stock photo Banks are very efficient allies of designers and advertising creatives. In a just in time way, now the stock images solve the new tendency of the present communication, which is freakier and more bizarre.
  7. Text Effects
    Atul Thakur
In the following tutorial we will create simple gel effect. It should look as if some drops of gel are spread around the text. We will make a thick gel text with a smooth sticky paste effect.
  8. Advanced layers blending
    Panos Efstathiadis
Photoshop offers a wide range of options that allow us to specify the way the pixels of different layers interact (or better: blend) with each other. If you double click a layer thumbnail on the layers palette or select Layer>Layer Style>Blending Options on the menu, the layers style window will open (if you have a flat image you need to double click the Background layer first, in order to turn it to a regular layer). This menu lets you control from basic to advanced blending parameters. In this tutorial we will study the manipulation of Photoshop's BLEND IF parameters. We will learn to specify which pixels of the active layer and of the underlying visible layers will be visible, based on their brightness. In our example we will use an image that shows a sunset scene and a second image of the full moon. You can download both images from my site, at the following URL: http://www.panosfx.com/images/PSDmag.zip.
  9. Photoshop Tricks
    Trent Mueller
Create screenshoots at 300 DPI Ever tried to output a screenshot at 300 dpi? It can sure be a challenge to make a software product look appealing when the screenshot looks so fuzzy. With the following technique, you can maintain the integrity of your screenshot- enough for 300 dpi brochures or even billboard displays.
  10. CSS - Doing it with style
    Francesco Natali
From W3C website: Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a simple mechanism for adding style (e.g. fonts, colors, spacing) to Web documents. (www.w3.org/Style/CSS/) Ok, Simple enough, CSS are the key for web design. But when you'll try to go deep in the wonderful Web 2.0 world, you'll soon learn that web design becomes more of a science and less driven by inspired guesswork. CSS can control everything from the size of your font to the very layout of your page. So probably you'll need a guide. There are hundreds of websites offering CSS tutorials and examples, and the aim of these pages is to present to you a very selected list of some great CSS websites that will help you. Let's start!

  12. Flying Colors
    Kelly McCathran
Most people learn to steer clear of things that have caused them bad experiences in the past. This logical avoidance, however, can sometimes turn into ungrounded fear; and people will pass up things that can be helpful, useful, and even fun. Flying is one of these fears for some people. Yet, over time, this anxiety can decline as one’s consciousness catches up to the current state of technology. In the graphic communication industry, fear of flying with color management is not so different.
